Introduction…

We are actively recruiting for a Mechanical Field Service Engineer to join a leading serving company who operate within various sectors including Power Stations, CHP Plants, Utilities, FMCG, Petrochemical and many more to deliver maintenance, resources, technical support and repairs.

This is a field based position covering Essex and South East parts of London. You may also be required to travel further afield within the UK as they grow their client base.

 

Role & Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out pre-planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical assets including turbines, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.
  • Providing engineering solutions when immediate spares aren't available (retrofitting, reverse engineering or modifying equipment)
  • Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices complying with Health and Safety regulations
  • Respond to reactive maintenance call outs
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance and inspection logs up to date
  • Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination
  • Supervising contracted labour when on site

 

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following knowledge / qualifications:

  • Time Served Apprenticeship in a Mechanical Engineering field
  • Strong experience working with rotating equipment such as Steam Turbines, Gas Turbines and associated equipment
  • Experience working in a heavy process environment such as a power station, refinery, chemical plant or paper mill.
  • As this is a field based role, a full UK driving licence is a necessity

Roles & Responsibilities As the Senior Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • The maintenance of an established and certified ISO9001 QMS including document control, CA/PA systems and calibration for the factory.
  • The definition and maintenance of the quality control plans for different product families according to the existing standards, our clients standard and specific Customer requirements.
  • Ensuring the correct application of work instructions and quality control plans together with Quality Management Systems procedures.
  • The planning and implementation of Quick Process Audits and their follow up.
  • Ensuring adequate tests and controls to verify product conformity, starting from incoming inspection on raw materials and components to final test on finished goods.
  • Directly managing customer quality inspection visits / audits or Factory Acceptance Tests and providing product quality certification where needed.
  • Responsible for customer complaints management, investigation, and reporting – including customer site visits as necessary.
  • Drive Improvement Projects aimed at reducing internal nonconformities and relevant costs of poor quality (COPQ).
  • Introducing appropriate operational quality tools to monitor and reduce variation in the manufacturing processes and provide active feedback from routine, batch, and random testing and inspection.
  • Quality reporting for both UK and Corporate Management on a defined set of measures (RFT, COPQ, number of Customer claims).
  • Conducting or playing an active role in IMS internal audits and supplier audits.
  • Taking an active role in Operations and Telecom Business Quarterly reviews.
  • Manage a team of four members, one quality technician and three quality inspectors.

Skills & Qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Previous Quality Management experience
  • Be able to demonstrate proven analytical skills

  • Demonstrates leadership and commitment to HSEQ. Actively encourages and leads this for the project.
  • Ensures that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management, HSE and commissioning team, HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
  • Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS
  • Is responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under his control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised
  • Prepares and issues Permits to Work and system isolations for works within the shift, Mechanical, Process and Electrical (HV and LV preferable SAP authorization)
  • Ensures that works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract and conform with project time requirements
  • Independently operates, monitors and maintains systems according to the scope of responsibility, in the control room and on site
  • Responsible to update and maintain shift logs and maintenance regimes
  • Optimizes processes in collaboration with our clients Commissioning Team.
  • Supervises both the client shift personnel and the work performed by suppliers during operation
  • Executes hands on training with the client personnel
  • Liaises and coordinates with other project team members, in particular the Commissioning Manager and Commissioning Lead Engineers
  • Participates in regular control tours throughout the plant according to our clients site tour protocol
  • Reports any variations and issues to the Commissioning Manager
  • Delivers Lessons Learned and feedback for current and future projects
  • Keeps the Commissioning Manager / Site Manager informed of all site related activities
Skills and job specifics:
  • Mechanical/Electrical Occupation, Technician.
  • Experienced as a leader in Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) management and has knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal requirements
  • Must have Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) or equivalent
  • BOP experience
  • Valid Safety Contractors Certificate (SCC) or equivalent
  • Experience Operating and leading a shift team on large thermal power plants
  • DCS system knowledge
  • Experience working for the EPC across Power projects is desirable.
  • Capability to read and understand P&IDs, electrical and instrumentation drawings.

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical bias and come from a heavy engineering background, manufacturing, or waste industry.                   Roles & Responsibilities Reporting to the Assistant Site Manager you will be responsible for:
  • Planned and reactive maintenance of the whole site including the process plant and equipment and general infrastructure.
  • Carrying out and recording all daily, weekly and Monthly PPM tasks in line with the schedules.
  • The review and continuous development of maintenance plans by determining the most effective strategies for each piece of equipment.
  • The reliability of the plant, finding faults and repairing breakdowns to minimise downtime.
  • Creating and maintaining good relationships with suppliers to ensure essential spares are readily obtainable.
  • Providing guidance and training to assist operators with self-sufficiency in routine reactive maintenance tasks.
