Astute are exclusively partnered with a global OEM Renewables Business who are looking for a Wind Turbine Technician / Electrical Technician to join their business. The main purpose of the role would be to work in a team who will service and maintain their onshore wind turbines. To be considered for this role you must have Level 3 Electrical qualifications and be from the wind industry, or you’ll be from another sector performing electrical maintenance in a heavy industrial environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Field Area Manager, as a Wind Turbine Technician / Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for:
  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on wind turbines
  • The installation and retrofitting of key electrical components
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Generating detailed reports on the work completed
  • Covering multiple sites in your region when required, perhaps staying overnight and having periods away from home
  • Working at heights
  • Other duties as required

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for an Electrical Technician with the following:
  • A level 3 electrical qualification is essential
  • 18th edition hugely desirable
  • Commercial or industrial experience and the desire to work in renewable energy
  • A full UK driving licence is essential
  • Excellent health and safety awareness and the ability to work at heights (full training to be provided)
  • A cracking work ethic and the flexibility to stay away when required

Astute’s Anaerobic Digestion Team are proudly and exclusively partnered with a company to recruit an Anaerobic Digestion Plant Manager for their brand new plant in Cheshire. The company are part of a very well known and highly regarded, prestigious brand in the UK and this is a flagship project for them. The Plant Manager role comes with a fantastic all round package, including a salary up to circa £55,000 - £60,000, accommodation provided and a generous pension scheme to name a few. Responsibilities and duties of the Plant Manager role Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team you will:  
  • Be accountable for the full day to day running of a brand new anaerobic digestion plant which is currently in construction
  • Recruit, manage and develop a best-in-class Operations Team to run the asset
  • Ensure the safe transition of the site from construction to commissioning and into operations
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance with the EA and external parties
  • Be the main point of contact for all compliance and external provider communications, ie the technology providers, gas network operator and service providers
  • Optimise the plant through any reasonable means possible
  • Ensure biomethane injection meets all standards and codes, optimising yield at all times
  • Work with the team, when recruited, to ensure a continuous improvement mindset and to ensure professional development for the team
  • Work with the farming and feedstock team to ensure the feedstock if of good quality, comes in good quantity and is planned for feeding accurately
  • Have full control of the asset’s P&L and profitability
  • Participate in standard operational duties when required
  • Attend out of hours alarms when required

Professional qualifications   We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • Previous experience running an anaerobic digestion plant
  • A relevant higher level qualification, ie engineering, agriculture or environmental science
  • IOSH or NEBOSH is preferred
  • WAMITAB is preferred
  • Proven experience managing and developing a team
Personal skills   The Plant Manager role would suit someone who is:  
  • A genuine leader and self-starter
  • Someone who appreciates that AD is never a 9 to 5
