  • Lead the preparation of RfQ packages in collaboration with Grid & ICP Engineering teams and manage the full tendering process for grid and ICP connection works.

  • Expand and strengthen the network of Grid connection and ICP subcontractors for solar PV and battery storage projects.
  • Build and maintain a supplier database for key equipment.
  • Collaborate with global procurement teams to share supplier insights and market intelligence, ensuring a consistent procurement strategy across the group.
  • Support the growth of the Grid & ICP subcontractor and supplier portfolio.
  • Participate in sales discussions with customers, subcontractors, and OEMs.
  • Prepare cost estimates for grid connections of power plants.
  • Support engineering and project delivery teams in refining strategies for interconnection works and battery storage project execution.
  • Develop and implement standardised processes for tendering Grid & ICP works.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards, including anti-bribery and QHSE policies.
  • Lead negotiations and finalisation of contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Act as the escalation point for issues arising in ongoing projects involving Grid/ICP suppliers and subcontractors.
Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related discipline - preferred.
  • Alternatively, degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Commercial Management with strong power sector experience.
  • CIPS qualification (MCIPS or working towards) is highly desirable.
  • Professional membership with relevant institutions (e.g., IET).
  • Extensive experience with Grid / ICP contractors and ICP-related works
  • Experience with solar PV and/or battery storage projects

Within their Projects and Contracts Team they a vacancy for the role of Contracts Administrator. The main purpose of this role is to ensure that all projects are undertaken in accordance with Company internal policies and procedures. This is achieved by working closely with the project teams to support a range of activities such as obtaining quotations for products and services, placing orders on suppliers (using SAP system), collating project costs and undertaking cost analysis, tracking key material and plant requirements, preparing payment applications in addition to a range of other critical support and administrative activities.

Candidates will have previous experience in a similar, administrative or co-ordination role or should be able to demonstrate strong organisational and administrative skills. The role requires a strong knowledge of the principles of contract management, which our client will provide, but candidates should have a willingness to learn and an interest in this area. Development can be provided toward roles within Contract Management for the right candidate. Strong IT literacy, together with a flexible and adaptable approach to work are essential.

  • Liaise with suppliers, organising quotes for comparison in conjunction with purchasing.
  • Review installation design drawings for steel work and request quotations from fabricators subsequently, place orders for steelwork and associated items

  • Raise call off orders for ancillary project hire items – e.g. gas, crane hire.
  • Manage time sheets for contractors and raising orders to cover weekly invoices

  • Manage Lucystar workflow (invoice queries), liaising with various people to check invoices are correct, if ok raising B2Bs to extend purchase orders or organising credits
  • Collate and manage HV Project PPL Costs
  • Manage all changes both up the line to the client and down the line to the subcontractor as dictated by the contract terms (early warnings, compensation events, variations etc.)
  • Undertake cost analysis for contracted and potential variation works to analyse subcontractor quotations and prepare quotations for submission to client
  • Keep track of key material and plant requirements in conjunction with the site and arranging additional coverage where required in line with the procurement processes
  • Undertake risk management, value management and cost control
  • Prepare payment applications in conjunction with the project team as dictated by the contract
  • Manage subcontractor valuations and arrange payments
  • Managing project documentation in line with both Prysmian procedures and the client’s requirements
  • Assist collating all information for the final file
  • Maintain regular contact with Line Management and, where appropriate, other departments, on matters affecting their own areas of responsibility

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Degree or HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Background of electrical/electronic manufacturing practices.
  • Structured, logical approach to engineering design.
  • Fault-finding.
  • Ability to work within a team with initiative and minimum supervision to a programme
  • Experience of using PLCs and/or embedded systems- of both hardware and software aspects.

Astutes Power Team are working exclusively with Marchwood Power Limited who own & operate the Marchwood Gas Fired Power Station in Southampton. This plant is able to produce 900MW of Power in a Combined Cycle configuration. Due to an internal promotion we are now looking for a Control & Instrumentation Technician to join the Maintenance Team. The C&I Technician is an integral role within the Maintenance department responsible for the short & long term maintenance on all Control & Instrumentation assets as well as supporting on projects & outages. This excellent opportunity offers an attractive salary up to £54,500 per year plus overtime opportunity, bonus and full benefits package. For candidates willing to consider moving for the right role, there is also relocation assistance available.                        Responsibilities and duties: As the Control & Instrumentation Technician you will be responsible for:
  • Carrying out pre-planned / reactive maintenance and calibrations on instrumentation equipment including pressure, level, flow, temperature sensors
  • Performing fault finding and maintenance activities on the Control System which includes the Siemens T3000 Control System & Siemens S7 PLC’s
  • Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely and within environmental parameters of the power station
  • Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
  • Assisting in plant developments and projects
  • Supervising and setting to work on site contractors
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site CMMS
  • Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination

      Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:
  • A recognised Process Control / Instrumentation / Automation / Electronics engineering apprenticeship ideally gained in a heavy process industry e.g. power station, pharmaceutical plant, steels works, paper mill, manufacturing etc.
  • An HNC / ONC or equivalent in relevant engineering would be advantageous
  • Ideally an IOSH or NEBOSH or Health & Safety Qualification
      Personal skills The Control & Instrumentation Technician would suit someone with:
  • Experience with control systems (DCS, SCADA, PLC’s) and instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level etc) equipment
  • Practical knowledge of maintenance procedures and processes associated with heavy process industries
  • Ability to confidently carry out loop checks and ladder logic
  • Competent in reading & interrogating P&ID’s
  • Competent with Permit to Work systems
  • Working knowledge of legislation relevant to the role such as HASAWA, SIS, PSSR & ATEX
