Astute’s Power team is partnering with leading with a Power Generation company to recruit an Operations Technician for its Energy from Waste site in Milton Keynes. The Operations Technician role comes with a starting salary of up to £52,000 + benefits package. If you’re a Level 3 qualified operator, with experience on a power station, operating the DCS then upload your CV to apply today Responsibilities and duties of the Operations Technician role Reporting to the Shift Team Leader you will:  
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Permit requirements and report any incidents or breaches.
  • Operate the plant safely and efficiently during normal operations, start-up, shutdown, and emergencies.
  • Follow all Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental systems and relevant legislation.
  • Participate in site HSE initiatives and contribute to safety forums.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Team to maintain optimal plant performance.
  • Mentor and train new personnel on plant operations and compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including shift handovers and maintenance records.
  • Support continuous safe and efficient plant operation through proactive monitoring and communication.
Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • NVQ Level 3 or National Diploma in a relevant discipline (essential).
  • WAMITAB Level 4 in Managing Thermal Treatment Facilities (desirable).
  • Strong technical knowledge of combustion and boiler processes.
  • Proven experience operating a heavy industrial plant, ideally a power station
  • Ability to meet KPI targets and demonstrate relevant technical competency.
