EC&I Technician

Astute are  recruiting an Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Technician to join the Maintenance Department of an Energy from Waste power station in Essex. The client has a large fleet of Biomass and Energy from Waste Power Stations across the UK, Europe and internationally. As a EC&I Technician, you will be providing front line maintenance at the facility and be responsible for all aspects of the safe, compliant, and efficient maintenance on the electrical, control & instrumentation equipment and systems on site. If you have the relevant experience (please see below) and are looking for a rewarding role in the Power sector, then please apply.                        Responsibilities and duties: Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, typical duties will include:
  • Fault finding, installing and maintaining electrical systems, instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow and level) and control systems 
  • Calibrations and loop checking of instruments relating to the sites DCS/control systems
  • Programming the sites DCS/PLC systems
  • Maintaining the continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS)
  • Assist in the development of plant modification and improvement work
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the site CMMS
  • Supervising and directing on site contractors when required
  • Ensuring strict HSE compliance at all times
    Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following
  • A recognised electrical/C&I engineering apprenticeship ideally gained in a heavy process industry.
  • A solid level of knowledge and understanding of maintenance strategies associated with electrical control systems.
  • At least 4 years of experience working in the maintenance team in a heavy process environment such as a power station, refinery, chemical plant or paper mill.
    Personal skills The EC&I Technician role would suit someone who has:
  • Experience on equipment such as motors, drives, actuators, transmitters, PLC’s, temperature / flow / pressure, control systems, HMI’s etc.
  • Experience in managing sub-contractors would be advantageous.
  • Able to do manual lifting and working at heights or confined spaces.
