Responsibilities and duties of the Emergency Preparedness Advisor role

Reporting to the Compliance and Assurance Manager you will:

  • Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and response plans
  • Coordinate crisis management processes and identify areas for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety and regulatory requirements
  • Assess security risks and support the protection of critical infrastructure
  • Deliver emergency response training to staff, contractors and stakeholders
  • Support response activities during incidents to protect people and the environment
  • Identify hazards and implement risk reduction strategies
  • Liaise with emergency services and external partners
  • Contribute to incident investigations and recovery planning
  • Maintain accurate records and evaluate response effectiveness

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Degree or professional qualification in emergency planning, risk management or a related field
  • Experience within a high hazard industry such as energy, oil and gas or petrochemicals
  • Knowledge of COMAH regulations and their practical application
  • Experience in crisis management within a complex organisation
  • Understanding of emergency response structures such as incident command systems
  • Experience in business continuity or emergency planning functions

  • Assist with overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure safety, efficiency and compliance with operational and regulatory requirements.

  • Prior experience acting as a Senior Authorised, or Authorised Person with excellent understanding of H&S legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Experience with leading and managing operational teams in a similar capacity.
  • Ideally, candidates will have a minimum Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • An IOSH or NEBOSH certificate would be an advantage.
