My experience with Selectemp goes back over 27 years. When I started with Superior Steel, Sheila Cox was the person with whom I dealt with and Sheila did a wonderful job taking care of my staffing needs. As time went on, Sheila moved up the ladder and other staffing people came and went. Annalise Burrington arrived and she too was a great asset for Selectemp. For years and years, Selectemp was my number 1, go-to staffing agency and I felt like we truly had a very solid business partnership. Both of my kids worked for Selectemp performing temp jobs as they were going through school. If you go back and look at your records, you will see that I did a ton of business with Selectemp. Dealing with Selectemp was nice because they were locally owned and if I had any issues, I could call Sheila or Annalise and let them know what was going on and they made it right. That all changed the day that Selectemp was sold. Instantly I could tell that things were not the same. Yes, the same people were still there but I felt like it went from a small, locally owned business, to a large faceless corporation. Overnight I sensed I went from a valued customer where the top people actually knew myself and my family, to just another customer that needed some temporary employees. Just to be clear, I AM NOT knocking the current Selectemp team. I value each and every one of them but they are operating under different circumstances than before the sale. I still know people who know people who still work there and from what I hear, it has become more about the almighty dollar than about customers and employees. Top level people are leaving or being moved around and that is never a good sign. Superior Steel is still a large consumer of temporary employees. To put things in perspective, in 2022, of the roughly 90,000 hours that temporary employees worked here, less than 6000 hours came from Selectemp employees. Selectemp is no longer number 1 and has not been for a very long time. For years I was told that Superior Steel did not pay high enough wages therefore they could not fill my orders. Superior Steel is more than just a wage and we are still in business (and we pay our bills on time) whereas several sheet metal companies in Oregon are not. Looking at the above numbers, apparently some agencies have figured out how to meet our needs. Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your survey. If someone wants to contact me, that is fine. Not sure what can be done about it. Again, thank you for your time.
