Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7:30am - 6:00pm

As a Mechanic Helper, you'll play a vital role in supporting trailer repairs and maintenance, helping ensure safety standards are met while gaining industry-relevant skills. You'll collaborate closely with experienced technicians and management to get the job done efficiently and safely.
What You'll Do
As a Mechanic Helper, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the repair and maintenance of trailers and trailer dollies, including air brake systems, suspension, lighting, floors, roofs, doors, and bodies.
- Driving to various truck dealerships to retrieve parts as needed.
- Moving equipment within the shop to facilitate repairs and maintenance.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas, including machinery, trailers, forklifts, and trucks.
- Coordinating with outside vendors, traffic, and other departments to ensure timely completion of repairs.
- Preparing orders, inspection forms, and documentation related to maintenance activities.
- Supporting other duties and tasks assigned by management to ensure operational efficiency.
What You'll Bring
The ideal candidate will have:
- A valid Oregon Driver’s License.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, push, bend, pull, crawl, and climb throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Problem-solving skills with the capacity to analyze situations and make decisions.
- Prior experience or interest in vehicle maintenance is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Diesel maintenance and repair certification from an accredited institution..
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and DEQ regulations.
- Certification to operate Class 8 trucks, forklifts, and yard hostlers.
- Experience with welding, diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, and related equipment.
- Knowledge of tires, suspension, and alignment components.
- A/C certification is a plus.

Location & Schedule:
This is an on-site position based in Eugene, Oregon, offering a Monday through Thursday schedule from 7:30am to 6:00pm.
