Role Overview:

As a Laundry Attendant, you will manage the operation of washing and drying machines to ensure the cleanliness and quality of linens, blankets, and similar items. Your responsibilities will include sorting, loading, unloading, and folding laundry, while maintaining a tidy and organized laundry room.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laundry Management: Unload and sort soiled linens; load washing machines with the appropriate amount of laundry; transfer washed items to dryers; unload dryers and fold clean linens.
  • Equipment Oversight: Ensure proper operation of washing and drying machines.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and orderly laundry room.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned, including cross-training in various roles.
  • Attendance: Adhere to a consistent attendance schedule and punctuality.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting: Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 20 lbs, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Mobility: Stand and walk up to two miles daily on various surfaces (cement, tile, asphalt, carpet).
  • Reaching and Handling: Reach overhead to handle items and push/pull weights averaging 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, dust, and noise.
  • Compliance with hotel safety standards and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hearing, eye, and hand protection.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in hotel laundry or housekeeping preferred.
  • Physical Ability: Capability to perform the physical tasks of loading and unloading.
  • Communication: Strong skills in communicating effectively with team members and management.
  • Time Management: Excellent ability to manage time and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
