Job Title: Boiler Operator/Turbine

Pay: $27/hr ($1 increase upon permanent hire)  Hours: Rotating Day/Night Shift Start Date: ASAP

Looking for an experienced industrial or mechanical professional? Join Douglas County Forest Products as a Boiler Operator/Turbine and play an important role in keeping plant operations running safely and efficiently. This position is responsible for monitoring and operating the facility’s boiler system and related equipment while maintaining safe, reliable, and continuous plant operations.

What You’ll Do

As a Boiler Operator, you will be responsible for:

  • Operate and monitor boilers, burners, pumps, fans, conveyors, and fuel systems
  • Monitor boiler pressure, temperature, water levels, and fuel supply
  • Make adjustments to maintain safe and efficient operation
  • Perform routine inspections and identify equipment issues
  • Monitor water treatment systems and perform blowdowns
  • Monitor fuel systems, including wood waste, bark, and sawdust
  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and minor maintenance
  • Assist Maintenance with repairs and troubleshooting
  • Maintain accurate operating logs and records
  • Keep the boiler room and work areas clean and safe
  • Remove ash and boiler-related waste
  • Report hazards, equipment issues, and other concerns
  • Communicate operating conditions and shift updates
  • Assist with other plant operations as needed

What You’ll Bring

The ideal candidate will have:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous boiler, industrial, manufacturing, sawmill, mechanical, or maintenance experience preferred
  • Boiler operator certification or license, if required
  • Basic knowledge of boiler and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read gauges, meters, and controls
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to safety and reliability
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Understanding of LOTO and industrial safety procedures
  • Ability to work around heat, steam, noise, dust, machinery, and other industrial hazards
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and perform physical work
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use hand tools and required PPE

Location & Schedule:

This position is on-site in Roseburg, OR, offering rotating 12-hour shifts: one month days (7a-7p), one month nights (7p-7a), with shift rotation over a 3-4 day workweek. Availability for overtime is required.
