Position Overview for the Manager, Data Center Operations:

  • Lead swing-shift operations (onsite) to maintain uptime and operational readiness across critical facility infrastructure.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs.
  • Oversee vendor performance and service contracts, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to specification.
  • Drive projects from scope through execution, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder communication.
  • Promote rigorous processes, documentation, and continuous improvement across maintenance programs and operating procedures.

Requirements for the Manager, Data Center Operations:

  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical/electrical operations within critical facilities (data center, hospital, power plant preferred), including installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large commercial/industrial systems.
  • Hands-on expertise with critical infrastructure such as chilled water systems, large centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, water treatment, VFDs/pumps, HVAC/CRAC/CRAH, humidification, BMS/PLC controls, generators and electrical distribution, UPS systems, and fire suppression systems.
  • 3-5 years of people management experience with proven leadership in a process-driven environment.
  • 3-5 years of vendor/service contract management and project management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, time tracking, scheduling, scope development, and contract oversight.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), and ability to coordinate contractors while solving problems in real time (including after hours as needed).
