IDR is seeking a Business Data Analyst to join one of our top clients for a remote opportunity. This role involves supporting enterprise data initiatives within a public sector environment, specifically focusing on Workers' Compensation data and business processes.

Responsibilities:
Serve as the technical data subject matter expert for Workers' Compensation data, ensuring solutions accurately reflect business processes and operational requirements.
Partner closely with business stakeholders and Data Engineers to analyze source data, define business rules, and validate complex data transformations within Databricks.
Analyze, validate, and reconcile enterprise datasets using SQL and Python to ensure data quality, integrity, and accuracy.
Review data models, mappings, and transformation logic, identifying issues and working with technical teams to resolve discrepancies before release.
Provide technical guidance during backlog refinement, sprint planning, and user story development to ensure business requirements are complete and technically feasible.
Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders by asking questions, challenging assumptions, and driving discussions that lead to better data solutions.
Support testing and validation efforts by ensuring data pipelines, transformations, and reporting outputs meet business expectations.
Collaborate with QA, BI Engineers, and Data Engineering teams to investigate data issues, validate reporting outputs, and improve overall data quality.
Requirements
5+ years of experience as a Technical Data Analyst, Senior Data Analyst, Data Solutions Analyst, or similar data-focused role supporting enterprise data initiatives.
Direct Workers' Compensation industry experience with a strong understanding of claims, policy, and operational data.
Hands-on experience working with Databricks, including validating data, supporting data environments, and collaborating with Data Engineering teams.
Strong SQL skills with the ability to analyze, validate, troubleshoot, and reconcile complex datasets.
Experience using Python for data analysis, validation, or data quality activities.
Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and enterprise data architecture.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and confidently challenge requirements when necessary.
