IDR is seeking a Data/BI Engineer to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Seattle, WA. This role involves supporting a major cloud-based data project within the retail industry, focusing on building scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions using AWS technologies. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity supporting a well-known e-commerce organization.

Position Overview for the Data/BI Engineer:

• Design, develop, and maintain AWS-based data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows to support analytics and reporting needs
• Work with structured and unstructured data sets using services such as Redshift, Glue, Athena, and Lambda
• Write clean, efficient Python code for data transformation and orchestration tasks
• Optimize SQL queries and performance within Redshift and Athena environments
• Collaborate cross-functionally with analytics, data science, and business users to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Ensure data integrity, reliability, and governance across all workflows
• Support development of BI models and metrics to empower reporting consumers

Requirements for the Data/BI Engineer:

• Strong experience with AWS services, especially: AWS Redshift, AWS Glue, AWS Athena, AWS Lambda
• Experience with S3 is a plus given typical AWS data architectures
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and engineering tasks
• Strong SQL skills and experience optimizing queries for analytics workloads
• Experience building scalable ETL/ELT automated pipelines
