Our client have several live projects within the energy sector in the UK and overseas, so there may be an opportunity to work across more projects with them. Role Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates leadership and commitment to HSEQ. Actively encourages and leads this for the project.
• Ensures that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management, HSE and commissioning team, HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
• Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS
• Is responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under his control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised
• Prepares and issues Permits to Work and system isolations for works within the shift, Mechanical, Process and Electrical (HV and LV preferable SAP authorization)
• Ensures that works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract and conform with project time requirements
• Independently operates, monitors and maintains systems according to the scope of responsibility, in the control room and on site
• Responsible to update and maintain shift logs and maintenance regimes
• Optimizes processes in collaboration with our clients Commissioning Team.
• Supervises both the client shift personnel and the work performed by suppliers during operation
• Executes hands on training with the client personnel
• Liaises and coordinates with other project team members, in particular the Commissioning Manager and Commissioning Lead Engineers
• Participates in regular control tours throughout the plant according to our clients site tour protocol
• Reports any variations and issues to the Commissioning Manager
• Delivers Lessons Learned and feedback for current and future projects
• Keeps the Commissioning Manager / Site Manager informed of all site related activities

Skills and job specifics:

• Mechanical/Electrical Occupation, Technician.
• Experienced as a leader in Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) management and has knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal requirements
• Must have Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) or equivalent
• BOP experience
• Valid Safety Contractors Certificate (SCC) or equivalent
• Experience Operating and leading a shift team on large thermal power plants
• DCS system knowledge

Responsibilities of the Commissioning Operator / Control Room Operator

Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, you will:

• Support commissioning activities across Balance of Plant (BoP) systems, including fuel gas, water treatment, cooling, compressed air and auxiliary systems.

• Operate and monitor plant systems through DCS/SCADA control systems during pre-commissioning, commissioning and first gas introduction.

• Assist with plant start-up, shutdown, functional testing and dynamic commissioning, monitoring plant parameters, responding to alarms and supporting fault finding.

• Execute commissioning procedures, test plans and check sheets, working closely with commissioning engineers, OEMs and field operators to ensure safe system handover.

• Support permit-to-work, LOTO, punch list management and defect resolution, including assisting plant operators with boiler unblocking activities following first fire.

Required qualifications and experience

To be considered, you must have:

• Previous experience as a Commissioning Operator, Control Room Operator or Plant Operator on an OCGT, CCGT or gas-fired power station.

• Hands-on experience operating and monitoring power generation equipment using DCS or SCADA control systems.

• Practical experience of power plant commissioning, start-up, shutdown and functional testing activities.

• Experience operating Balance of Plant systems, including fuel gas, cooling water, compressed air or auxiliary plant equipment.

• Working knowledge of permit-to-work systems, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and safe isolation practices within power generation.

Desirable experience

It would be an advantage, but is not essential, to have:

• Previous experience supporting first fire, first gas introduction and dynamic commissioning on a new-build OCGT or CCGT power station.

• Manage and carry out day-to-day Senior Authorised Person (SAP) duties across 400kV onshore wind projects in Montrose and Ramsgate, ensuring all HV activities are completed safely and in accordance with site Electrical Safety Rules.

• Take responsibility for the safe operation, control and coordination of HV electrical systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, cables and associated Balance of Plant equipment.

• Plan, prepare, review and execute HV switching schedules and switching programmes, ensuring all switching activities are completed safely and in line with operational requirements and planned works.

• Manage the application and removal of safety precautions, including isolations, earthing and proving dead, ensuring electrical systems are made safe prior to work commencing.

• Respond to HV faults, trips and electrical system issues, leading fault finding activities, coordinating investigations and ensuring electrical systems are safely restored to service.

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to Authorised Persons, electrical technicians, contractors and site personnel, ensuring all HV activities are completed safely and in accordance with the required electrical safety procedures.

• Provide regular updates to the Site Manager and wider project team regarding HV system status, planned works, outages, operational risks and any issues that could impact the safe operation or availability of the wind farm.

• Coordinate logistics with Project Manager and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
• Conduct pre-construction site assessments and manage site setup, including temporary facilities, temporary access roads, and laydown areas.
