We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to undertake all pre and post contract quantity surveying services for multiple nuclear projects in Berkshire.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

As the Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

• Liaise with the client regarding any commercial discussions.
• Provide commercial advice to the Project Managers.
• Advising on a procurement strategy.
• Preparation and negotiation of all sub-contract contract documentation.
• Analyse sub-contract tender cost and contract submissions.
• Managing an early warning process with the client and the sub-contractors.
• Managing sub-contract monthly payment.
• Working under NEC4 ECC, TSC and PSC contracts using options A, C &E.

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Previous experience managing the commercial aspects of nuclear projects from pre to post contract.

EC&I Delivery

The RAMS & Permit to Work Coordinator is responsible for the effective administration, coordination, review and control of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Permit to Work (PTW) processes across the project. The role supports the safe planning and execution of construction activities by ensuring that all work is appropriately assessed, documented, communicated and authorised before commencement. Working closely with site management, supervisors, subcontractors and the Health, Safety & Wellbeing team, the coordinator will help maintain compliance with company procedures, client requirements and relevant legislation. RAMS Management

• Coordinate the submission, review and approval process for all subcontractor and internal RAMS.
• Ensure RAMS are submitted within required timescales prior to works commencing.
• Review RAMS for completeness, accuracy and suitability before issuing for management approval.
• Verify that risk assessments adequately identify hazards, control measures and residual risks.
• Maintain a live RAMS tracker to monitor status, approvals and expiry dates.
• Ensure approved RAMS are issued to relevant site teams and work activities.
• Monitor changes to scope and ensure RAMS are revised where required.
• Archive and maintain records in accordance with project and company requirements.

Permit to Work Coordination

• Manage the site Permit to Work system and associated records.
• Coordinate the issue and closure of permits including:
• Excavation permits
• Hot works permits
• Electrical permits
• Confined space permits

• Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card. SSSTS or SMSTS qualified

Health Safety & Environmental

• Understands method statements and risk assessments, able to develop new and improved safe systems of work
• Understands the principles of Accident / Incident Investigation and has good working knowledge of the process
• Good working knowledge of current H&S Legislation

Engineering Control

• A full understanding of technical requirements and techniques of setting out and coaching of team members
• Allocates correct resource levels and identifies additional requirements
• Track record of solution orientated approach to issue resolution

Quality

• Understands the Organisational Business Management Systems and processes
• Strong understanding of requirements for handover, including certification

Productivity

• Able to produce a fully resourced stage programme in the accepted format / software
• Able to measure and track KPIs for enhanced productivity
• Strong knowledge and management of construction process in one or more of the following areas: Earthworks/Drainage, Pavement, Comms, Structures, Roadworks

Commercial

• Awareness of procurement practice
• Experienced at producing detailed records and correspondence for commercial recovery
