Senior Design Engineer Indaver leads the field in sustainable waste management in Europe, with facilities and operations in Belgium, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands. Our trademark is delivering high quality, cost effective services in the municipal, industrial and specialist hazardous waste market across Ireland. Our waste-to-energy facility in Meath is the first of its kind on the island of Ireland. We process up to 235,000t of residual waste each year and produce electricity to power 35,000 homes annually.    This role will involve the Management, Review and Co-Ordination of design packages from Consulting Engineers and project Contractors in order to deliver a thoroughly robust and safe design for execution of the works. This role will involve a combination of office and site based engineering activities, where you will be expected to carry out the level of Co-Ordination referenced above at design stage and continue the inspection, review and Co Ordination during the construction phase to ensure the works are being executed in accordance with the design and works planning. Function description:
  • Implementing design review, making and recording changes to designs and disseminating those changes to the relevant parties.
  • Physical presence required at work fronts to review the implementation of designs and seek efficiencies and improvements of the design delivery.
  • Support the Project Manager to achieve the contract program
  • Ensure RAMS & ITPs are completed in conjunction with progression of works
  • Ensure NCRs and defects are actioned and closed out to the satisfaction of Indaver
  • Regular liaison with Project Manager to ensure that subcontractor works are delivered to the satisfaction of Indaver.
  • Consult where appropriate Indaver Health & Safety to ensure that all safety standards are followed.
  • Monitor sub-contractors’ safety standards and ensure that they comply with Indaver standards. 
Required skills:
  • Third level qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction, plus significant and relevant experience.
  • 10 years’ experience of Engineering Design Co-Ordination of large scale technical investment projects of a Civil Engineering or heavy Construction nature or similar works on a Pharmaceutical site.
  • In-depth knowledge of Construction regulations.
  • Experience of Temporary works Design process is an advantage
  • Thorough knowledge and relevant experience in the civil/construction industry and project engineering.
  • Proficient at preparing reports
  • Specialist knowledge in their expert domain
  • Thorough knowledge (legal, technical, functional) of Construction management.

The Job

Working as the Senior Technical Assessor, you will be responsible for…

  • Supporting and leading the team of assessors across all daily operations, offeting advice and direction when needed.
  • Identify and assign cost effective treatment and processing routes for a variety of hazardous waste streams (both in house and external) to meet waste enquiries.
  • Carry out technical assessment of waste enquiries through characterising and applying accurate classification of the waste and ensuring all waste brought onto site meets current permits, compliance and legislation.
  • Provide technical advice, support and guidance to sites within the organisation and to external customers.
  • Work to current company policies, procedures and legislation.
  • Producing reports as and when required
  • Providing suitable waste routing plans and determining accurate pricing for customer enquiries.
  • Proactively supporting the correct safety culture across all sites.
  • Other duties as required.

 

The Candidate

To be considered for this position, candidates are expected to have a background working within a technical assessment role with some understanding of working within the waste management sector, specifically hazardous waste management.  

 

Candidates should hold a degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Chemistry with a strong ability to understand and interpret analytical data and legislation

 

Demonstrable experience communicating and coordinating with people at all levels of an organisation is also desired as this role will require working with customers, clients and internal personnel.

The Job

Reporting to the Production Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Assist with the hands-on operation of the hazardous waste site, ensuring materials coming onto and off site are consistently safe and compliant to site permits and environmental regulations.
  • Analyse, test and classify a wide variety of hazardous waste materials on-site.
  • Assist with compiling lists of wastes to be transferred off site to third party disposal points.
  • Assist with non- conformance procedures and sample processing for incoming waste streams.
  • Unloading and loading lorries across the site, operating forklift tricks and supporting with deliveries.
  • Support the site with any extra duties such as tidying and washing the yard.

 

The Candidate

To be considered for this position, candidates are expected to have an appropriate chemistry qualification to degree level as well as experience handling a diverse range of chemical compounds including understanding of inter-reactions.

This role would suit a recent graduate looking to further their career within the chemical sector and an interest in moving into the waste management industry.
