Introduction

We are currently recruiting for a Transfer Station Chemist to join one of the industry leaders in hazardous and clinical waste management solutions across the UK. Working as the Transfer Station Chemist, you will be responsible for taking and analysing hazardous waste samples on-site to ensure safe and compliant waste is processed at all times.

 

The Job

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Assist with the hands-on operation of the hazardous waste site ensuring materials coming onto and off site are consistently safe and compliant to site permits and environmental regulations.
  • Assist with compiling lists of wastes to be transferred off site to third party disposal points. Liaising with other staff to ensure correct routing of wastes.
  • Assist with non- conformance procedures and sample processing within the site laboratory for incoming waste streams.
  • Providing services to customers to enable wastes to be assessed, priced and collected
  • Utilise appropriate systems to manage non- compliances.
  • Use of FLT/Dump Truck and other mobile plant as required
  • Assist with the daily/weekly plan for the operational areas and laboratory, adapt to the unplanned and unexpected to deliver targets, KPI’s and other requirements.
  • Ensure house-keeping requirements and continuous improvement programmes are supported both directly and through the plant team.
  • Partake in improvement of process, contributing to micro project development.
  • Undertake area administration activity including Chemist Check sheets, process sheets, stock sheets, production records, etc.

 

The Candidate

To be considered for this position, candidates are expected to have an appropriate chemistry qualification to degree level as well as experience handling a diverse range of chemical compounds including understanding of inter-reactions.

 

Some knowledge of hazardous waste or industrial chemistry would be beneficial as well as previous experience working in a site-based role or in an industrial hands-on environment.

 

This role would suit someone looking to further their career within the chemical sector and an interest in moving into the waste management industry. A NEBOSH certificate or IOSH H&S qualification would also be beneficial.

We are currently recruiting for a Test Engineer with sound electrical knowledge, brilliant customer service skills and flexibility/happy to travel, to join a world leading group in the energy and telecom cable system industry.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

As the Test Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Planning and progress of High Voltage testing – liaising regularly with project manager, site manager and site Engineers.
  • Interfacing with the Test Engineering Manager to accurately project completion information and up to date plans, allowing the production of accurate costs.
  • Communicating the plans and variations to the appropriate persons (Test Engineering Manager, project managers, site Engineers etc).
  • Perform site assessments prior to high voltage testing and produce detailed method statements and risk assessments. 
  • Carry out the erection and setup of test equipment defined by the Test Engineering Manager.
  • Organization of Test Department and subcontractor resources to achieve test program.
  • Coordinating the ongoing maintenance, calibration, and repair of test equipment.
  • Required to work away at different sites 3 out of 4 weeks during the month.

 

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  • An electrical engineering background with previous experience of working in a high voltage environment.
  • Very good computer literacy, particularly regarding Microsoft Word, Excel and Access with the capability of writing technical reports of high quality.
  • A National Grid Competent Person qualification would be an advantage

We are currently recruiting for a Bid Co-Ordinator (HV) to work for our global client who are a world leader in cable technology. You’ll be responsible for managing the complete tender process from enquiry to tender submission through to order capture.

You’ll need previous account management and client relationship building experience, as well as experience of working on and delivering sales proposals, bids, and tenders. You’ll need to be well organised and able to coordinate with all internal stakeholders as well as being the client’s single point of contact.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

As the HV Bid Co-Ordinator, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting customer enquires & managing tenders- simple of cables through to complex turnkey contracts involving civil works, cable installation, jointing works, and commissioning testing.
  • Managing the complete tender process from enquiry to tender submission through to order capture
  • Acting as single point contact for all internal and external communication on tenders
  • Determining bid tactics and pricing of offers
  • Collating technical, operational, and commercial information as part of the preparation of any tender submission.
  • Evaluating options to provide optimised project solutions
  • Undertaking post tender discussions and contract negotiation with the customer
  • Tracking major projects in the UK marketplace, developing new business opportunities and long-term customer relationships
