Electrical Commissioning Engineer
CONTRACT

Astute’s EPC Power team is partnering with a leading EPC Contractor within the UK Power Industry to recruit a Electrical Commissioning Engineer on a 6 months basis for its EFW plant based in Chesire.

 

The Electrical Commissioning Engineer role comes with a day rate of £475.00to £525.00 per day. 

 

 

Key skills and responsibilities: 

  • Working closely with the Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer on site to handle all electrical commissioning activities for a gas power project in UK, until successful handover to the customer. The scope of activities will be: Experienced with NG TP106 Process Framework thereby ensuring commissioning is conducted with a level of governance and associated audit trail.
  • Hands-on commissioning of electrical components and systems such as, transformers, medium/low voltage switchgears, DC systems, rectifiers, inverters, motorized valves, instruments etc. Fully competent at using Primary & Secondary Injection test set equipment.
  • Carrying out testing on electrical systems and equipment, as well as system optimization and troubleshooting and filling-in the respective commissioning documentation and protocols
  • Cooperation with internal team members, guidance and coordination of external partners and sub-contractors, interacting with customers.
  • Managing and leading the team of LV/MV/HV electrical engineers, electrical supervisors, technicians, etc. Participate in the Plan of the Day meeting daily providing resourceful inputs on the work progress.
  • Ensure all the activities conducted on site follow the correct process in accordance with project requirements and in strict compliance with all EHS requirements.
  • Coordination of all necessary activities with all involved parties, such as commissioning team, erection team and sub-contractors
  • Participation in the walk-downs for Turnover from construction to commissioning, identifying open items that prevent system start-up.
  • Report to the Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer and the Commissioning Manager on each specific site.
  • At least 7 years working experience in power stations Electrical (MV/LV and I&C) Commissioning activities with demonstrable experience in a leading role in projects of similar relevance.
  • BEng /HND in Electrical engineering
  • Strong team spirit, working with an international team and other cultures.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ideal project experience working within CCGT, OCGT, Energy from Waste, or Nuclear energy.

We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to undertake all pre and post contract quantity surveying services for multiple nuclear projects in Berkshire.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

As the Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Liaise with the client regarding any commercial discussions.
  • Provide commercial advice to the Project Managers.
  • Advising on a procurement strategy.
  • Preparation and negotiation of all sub-contract contract documentation.
  • Analyse sub-contract tender cost and contract submissions.
  • Managing an early warning process with the client and the sub-contractors.
  • Managing sub-contract monthly payment.
  • Working under NEC4 ECC, TSC and PSC contracts using options A, C &E.

 

 

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Previous experience managing the commercial aspects of nuclear projects from pre to post contract.
  • SC clearance needed.

The Site Lead C&I Commissioning Engineer role comes with a day rate from £500.00 to £550.00.

 

 

Key skills and responsibilities: 

  • Leading the team of C&I Commissioning Engineers and Technicians throughout the commissioning of electrical components and instruments such as motorized and pneumatic valves, instruments, transmitters, loop checks, etc.
  • Carrying out testing on instrumentation against the whole loop (DCS to field), as well as system optimization and troubleshooting and filling-in the respective commissioning documentation and protocols
  • Carrying out calibration or verification of the calibration using HART communicator, current/voltage generator etc.
  • Cooperation with internal team members, guidance and coordination of external partners and sub-contractors, interacting with customers.
  • Work closely with the Leads for the other disciplines.

We are currently recruiting a Senior Authorised Person / Permit Officer to join their team on site.   The Senior Authorised Person position come with a day rate of £500.00 to £550per day.     Key skills 
  • Ensure that relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and, in consultation with site management, HSE and Commissioning team, that HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable.
  • Ensure that adequate precautions are taken to provide safety from the system whilst construction / commissioning work is carried out.
  • Oversee installation of the HV switching equipment 33Kv and LV switching equipment.
  • Oversee the energisation of the equipment.
