Astute’s EPC Power team is partnering with a leading Principal Contractor within the UK Power Industry. We have 2 Contract requirements for Lead Plant Operators to join 2 Large-scale Open Cycle Gas Turbine plants based in South Wales and Suffolk.

 

The Lead Plant Operator positions come with a day rate from £375.00 to £425.00 per day outside of IR35.

 

 

Key skills and responsibilities: 

  • Thorough understanding of plant mechanical and electrical systems and components and hands-on operation through DCS/PLC and any other applicable HMI and/or control system
  • Aligns plant equipment; makes necessary adjustments to plant systems/equipment as directed by the Commissioning Manager or the Lead Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. Operates various manual valves and/or circuit breakers throughout the plant site.
  • Managing and leading the team of plant operators, preparing their working schedule and shifts. Participate in the Plan of the Day meeting daily providing resourceful inputs on plant operation issues and objectives.
  • Assists others in performance testing of equipment/systems and on-the-job training of other Operators.
  • Troubleshoots plant equipment to resolve operational problem.
  • Plan and organize plant preservation and preventive maintenance, while keeping the appropriate records
  • Monitors and records data available using various instruments, recording charts/graphs and other monitoring devices onto shift logs as directed by plant operational procedures.

  • To assist in the planning and organising of the mechanical maintenance and repairs of plant and equipment in specific allocated areas of responsibility

The Role Our Client is a leading EPC in the renewable energy field and Power Generation sector, who are consistently bidding and gaining new projects in the Power Generation Industry. The EPC are currently recruiting for a Commissioning Manager to join the team on the Waste to Energy facility based in Protos, Chester.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Working in collaboration with the construction team, ensuring that commissioning activities are planned safely and to required quality standards and specifications
  • Set up the pre-commissioning documentation in line with milestones for the commissioning.
  • Providing appropriate support throughout the commissioning phase of the project
