Responsibilities and duties of the Design Manager role
Reporting to the Head of Bid Management you will:

Manage design consultants and coordinate their activities to ensure deliverables are completed in line with the project programme

Act as the technical lead on the project where required, providing guidance on engineering and design matters

Review design outputs to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and project specifications

Manage the design deliverables schedule and monitor progress against agreed milestones

Lead design review meetings with project teams and coordinate design interfaces with external stakeholders

Manage the resolution of design queries and technical issues across the project lifecycle

Produce regular reports on design progress and highlight risks, delays or required actions

Coordinate requests for information (RFIs) and ensure clear communication between project teams, designers and clients

Ensure drawings and design documentation are properly controlled, issued and maintained within project systems

Support change management processes and ensure design changes are implemented in accordance with project procedures

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Relevant engineering or construction qualification

Experience managing design activities within construction, engineering or infrastructure projects

Strong understanding of construction methods and design delivery processes

Experience working with design consultancies or temporary works design teams

Knowledge of design approval processes within regulated or complex project environments
