Astuteโ€™s Nuclear team is partnering with a key player in the UK nuclear sector to recruit a Design Manager to support the delivery of a major nuclear and civil works framework at the nuclear decommissioning project in Seascale, based out of their offices in Whitehaven. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating design activities, managing consultant deliverables, and ensuring projects progress in line with programme and contractual requirements.   • Manage design consultants and coordinate their activities to ensure deliverables are completed in line with the project programme
  • Act as the technical lead on the project where required, providing guidance on engineering and design matters
  • Review design outputs to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and project specifications
  • Manage the design deliverables schedule and monitor progress against agreed milestones
  • Lead design review meetings with project teams and coordinate design interfaces with external stakeholders
  • Manage the resolution of design queries and technical issues across the project lifecycle
  • Produce regular reports on design progress and highlight risks, delays or required actions
  • Coordinate requests for information (RFIs) and ensure clear communication between project teams, designers and clients
  • Ensure drawings and design documentation are properly controlled, issued and maintained within project systems
  • Support change management processes and ensure design changes are implemented in accordance with project procedures
ย  Professional qualifications ย  We are looking for someone with the following: ย 
  • Relevant engineering or construction qualification
  • Experience managing design activities within construction, engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and design delivery processes
  • Experience working with design consultancies or temporary works design teams
  • Knowledge of design approval processes within regulated or complex project environments
