ย one of the UK leaders in waste management and specialist industrial services to recruit an Assistant Transport Manager to join its Transfer Station team in Honiton on a temporary 1 year maternity cover fixed term contract.
The Assistant Transport Manager role comes with a salary of ยฃ32,000 and is working on a 1 year fixed term contract. This role would suit someone with experience working within a supervisory role within transport management.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Transport Manager
you will:
ย
- Provide operational support to the Transport Manager, ensuring that all vehicles and drivers are operating in a safe and compliant manner.
- Monitoring the driver working time to ensure compliance with working time regulations/ EU drivers hours and safety procedures internally,
- Monitor any driver infringements, ensuring drivers are debriefed and are signed onto RAMS for their operations.
- Review and investigate any near misses, raising any issues to senior teams.
- Provide scheduling support where needed.
- Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, scheduling annual MOTs/ADRs/Tank Tests and ensuring maintenance schedules are adhered too.
- Carry out regular vehicle gate checks to ensure continued compliance, monitoring any external contractors & arranging visits regularly to audit standards .
- Monitor driver trends/EEDI scores using vehicle telematics and provide feedback/training
- Provide cover for the Transport Manager during periods of absence and on-call support on a rota basis. ย

Professional qualifications & Personal skills
We are looking for someone with the following:
ย
- Previous experience working within a Transport Supervisor or Transport Manager position.
- A strong understanding of driver hours regulations, working time directives and driver regulations.
- An ADR Licence, IOSH Certificate or Transport Manager CPC (international) would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Some knowledge of the waste sector would be beneficial or any equivalent heavy industry.
