Maintenance Manager

Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market-leading waste management and energy company, to recruit for a Maintenance Manager to be based at their Waste Management Facility in Southwark, South London.   The vital Maintenance Manager role comes with a basic salary of £55,000 - £70,000+ car/car allowance + up to 20% bonus + other excellent company benefits. If you’re an experienced Maintenance Manager, or experienced Maintenance Engineer, and are looking to work for a leading organisation who invests in training and professional development of their employees, then upload your CV to apply today.                   Responsibilities and duties Reporting to the Plant Manager you will be responsible for:  
  • Managing the daily operations of the maintenance department, servicing both the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) and the Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT)
  • Manage and hold accountability of the maintenance budget
  • Ensure continuous development of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Ensure appropriate management of stock level of spare parts on site
  • Full accountability of the maintenance team which consists of technicians, fitters, graduates and apprentices
  • Working with other departments of the plant to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operations of the plant
  • Take the lead on most major improvement projects
  • Liaise with all stakeholders, both internally and externally (staff, contractors, suppliers, etc)
    Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • A formal qualification such as a degree, HND, HNC, etc in a relevant engineering discipline (ideally mechanical)
  • A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH will be advantageous but not a necessity
    Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge The Maintenance Manager would suit someone who has:
  • Proven leadership experience within an engineering team
  • Good understanding of conveyor and optical sorting equipment 
  • Prior experience gained in a heavy process engineering environments e.g. waste management, power stations, chemical plants, refineries, steel works etc
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Prior budget responsibility relating to maintenance activities
