Controls and Instrumentation Technician

Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company, who specialise with the Energy from Waste (EfW) industry, to recruit for a Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) Technician to join their Energy from Waste Power Station near Bicester, Oxfordshire. The vital C&I Technician role comes with a basic salary of £45,774 + partial shift allowance of £2,217 + Location living allowance of £2,654 + Overtime + Call out payments + up to 10% Bonus + benefits. If you’re an experienced C&I/EC&I Technician and are looking to work for a leading organisation who invests in training and professional development of their employees, then upload your CV to apply today.                   Responsibilities and duties Reporting to the EC&I Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Carrying out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance duties on all control and instrumentation equipment across the site.
  • Fault finding/maintaining instrumentation (Pressure, temperature, level, flow etc)
  • Maintaining the DCS/PLC equipment
  • Maintaining the continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS)
  • Assisting in plant shutdowns and outages
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records via the site’s computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Assisting with faults on electrical equipment and training will be provided if you do not have electrical experience already
    Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Electrical/Electronic, Controls & Instrumentation, etc
  • A health and safety qualification such as an IOSH will be highly advantageous
  • 18th Edition will be advantageous
    Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge The C&I Technician role would suit someone who has:
  • Hands on maintenance experience with Controls and Instrumentation equipment such as PLC/DCS systems, flow sensors, thermocouples, pressure sensors, continuous monitoring emissions systems (CEMS), etc
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill, FMCG, etc
  • Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered for this opportunity
