Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company, to recruit for a Functional Safety Engineer to work at their site in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, and travel to other sites when required. Functional Safety Engineer role comes with a basic salary of up to £60,000 + bonus + car/car allowance + other excellent benefits.   If you’re an experienced Functional Safety Engineer, or an experienced Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer with functional safety experience, and are looking to work for a leading organisation who invests in training and professional development of their employees, then upload your CV to apply today.                   Responsibilities and duties Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for:  
  • Providing expertise and direction to the development of functional safety management for the business
  • Provide Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) support to site projects when required
  • Support COMAH activities such as intervention visits and safety report development
  • Ensure audits are carried out to cover all aspects of functional safety
  • Support functional safety/process safety competency development
  • Conduct hazard study reports when required such as HAZID, HAZIP, LOPA and PHA
    Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • Ideally have a HNC minimum qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Electrical/Controls and Instrumentation
  • TUV Functional Safey Engineering qualification  
    Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge The Functional Safety Engineer would suit somebody who has:  
  • Prior experience working in heavy industrial environments such as COMAH sites, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, etc.
  • Experience in management of functional safety lifecycle for safety instrumented systems
  • Prior experience in leading hazard identification and risk assessments (PHA, HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA)
  • Good stakeholder relationship management both internally and externally
