The Senior Grid and ICP Procurement Manager role comes with a starting salary up to £86,000 depending on experience, as well as remote working with occasional site travel, and other benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Senior Grid & ICP Procurement Manager role
Reporting to the Head of Procurement you will:

Lead the preparation of RfQ packages in collaboration with Grid & ICP Engineering teams and manage the full tendering process for grid and ICP connection works.

Engage with Grid & ICP subcontractors to obtain accurate quotations based on project-specific grid connection offers.

Monitor and assess bid performance, analyse market positioning and pricing trends, and recommend improvements to policies and processes.

Review subcontractor proposals to identify scope gaps, deviations, and opportunities for cost optimisation.

Develop detailed cost estimates, ensuring all inputs are validated and appropriate risk allowances are included. Establish realistic target costs early in the tender stage and challenge discrepancies to avoid over- or under-estimation.

Expand and strengthen the network of Grid connection and ICP subcontractors for solar PV and battery storage projects.

Build and maintain a supplier database for key equipment.

Collaborate with global procurement teams to share supplier insights and market intelligence, ensuring a consistent procurement strategy across the group.

Support the growth of the Grid & ICP subcontractor and supplier portfolio.

Participate in sales discussions with customers, subcontractors, and OEMs.

Prepare cost estimates for grid connections of power plants.

Support engineering and project delivery teams in refining strategies for interconnection works and battery storage project execution.

Develop and implement standardised processes for tendering Grid & ICP works.

Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards, including anti-bribery and QHSE policies.

Lead negotiations and finalisation of contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.

Act as the escalation point for issues arising in ongoing projects involving Grid/ICP suppliers and subcontractors.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or related discipline - preferred.

Alternatively, degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Commercial Management with strong power sector experience.

CIPS qualification (MCIPS or working towards) is highly desirable.

Professional membership with relevant institutions (e.g., IET).

Extensive experience with Grid / ICP contractors and ICP-related works
-
Experience with solar PV and/or battery storage projects
-
Strong knowledge of UK grid connection processes and ICP frameworks (IDNOs, DNOs, and National Grid ESO interactions).

Experience developing and managing RFPs, RFQs, and tender clarifications.

Strong cost control and budget management skills for multi-million-pound infrastructure packages.
