Responsibilities and Duties of the Construction Project Manager Role
Reporting to the Head of Construction, you will:
- Oversee the delivery of large-scale renewable energy storage projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Support design development by advising on constructability, scheduling, and cost implications.
- Contribute to process improvement and knowledge sharing across the organisation.
- Prepare and manage construction budgets, forecasts, and progress reports.
- Negotiate and manage construction contracts, ensuring effective collaboration with procurement, suppliers, and contractors.
- Develop and monitor construction programmes to track progress and key project milestones.
- Manage risk, change control, and stakeholder communications to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Lead the construction phase from pre-construction through commissioning, maintaining compliance with all contractual, environmental, and legislative requirements.
- Lead and mentor site-based teams, ensuring alignment with project objectives and company standards.
- Coordinate project energisation, completion, and handover to asset management teams.
- Maintain a strong focus on Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) performance across all sites.
Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- A degree in Construction Management, Civil or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent vocational qualification with substantial relevant experience.
- A strong technical background in high-voltage grid connections (132kV and above), substations, and balance-of-plant systems.
- Proven experience in managing utility-scale energy storage projects.
- Demonstrable experience working with construction contracts, supplier management, and project financial control.
- Knowledge of construction legislation, H&S regulations, and environmental compliance in renewable infrastructure.
