Hi, I'm Kirstin Schmelig, a legal recruiter specializing in connecting top legal talent with law firms and corporate legal departments throughout the Midwest.

Why I love to recruit
What I love most about recruiting is that no two searches are ever the same. Every client has unique challenges, every candidate has different motivations, and every successful placement creates an opportunity for both sides to grow. I enjoy learning what drives people in their careers and helping them find opportunities that align with their goals, whether that's a first step into leadership, a move in-house, or joining a firm where they can build a long-term practice. On the client side, there's nothing more rewarding than helping an organization solve a critical hiring need with someone who becomes a true difference-maker for the business. At its core, recruiting is about relationships, trust, and creating outcomes that positively impact people's careers and organizations. That's what keeps me excited about the work every day.

When I'm not working I like to
When I'm not talking legal talent and career opportunities, there's a good chance you'll find me on a sand volleyball court. It's one of my favorite ways to stay active, unwind, and enjoy some friendly competition. I'm also outnumbered at home by my two miniature dachshunds, Doby and Spyro, who are convinced they're in charge and, honestly, they're probably right. I love spending time with family and friends, trying new local restaurants, traveling when I can, and ending the day with a good true crime or mystery series. Whether it's recruiting, volleyball, or life in general, I enjoy building connections and making the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
