The biggest benefit for me is hearing from others in my industry - learning from their experiences and gaining their advice. I have found individuals to be transparent and informative. The sales pitch for outside services has increased which I don't appreciate.
It is frustrating when the overnight accommodations are limited in options and not within walking distance to the meeting location or a variety of dining options.
I would also appreciate it if we could stick to the agenda. The last meeting went longer than expected and I was not able to meet some commitments that I had planned on doing after the meeting.
I would recommend checking with individuals prior to planning future evening events if that is the plan. The added transportation length, and I am allergic to cats which made the cooking event a challenge.
