After my reply to his message in Linkedin, he called me and I couldn't take the call. But he left a clear message on his availability. When I returned the call we could review his customer's need and expectancies and cross validate with my experience. He told me about how the hiring process was conducted.
To my best knowledge he gave enough feedback to trust his advice and expect the best outcome.
I've been happy to work with Jim so far. Unlike less experienced recruiters, I never felt like he was trying to meet some sort of call quota or rush my resume out the door for a marginally-suitable position. He talked with me about places where I might improve my skillset, and told me about some successful candidates he's had in the past.
In the opportunistic, hit-or-miss field of recruiting, if you can maintain an ongoing relationship with someone, it means a lot, and I'm likely to continue my relationship with Jim regardless of the outcome for a particular role.
