Read and understand engineering specifications and drawings, take measurements, plan layouts and determine which welding method to use based on the specifications and materials.
Weld metal parts together using gas welding or brazing and/or arc welding processes as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders or verbal instructions.
Operate forklift, hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch and other tools.
Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes and increase size of metal parts.
Position and clamp components of fabricated metal products to prepare to weld.
Check finished work to ensure product falls within tolerances established on engineering specs.
Inspect equipment to maintain functional and safe equipment. Notify supervisor of any needed repairs or safety concerns.
Welder I – Apprentice or Entry level. Performs basic tasks under close supervision. Exercise little or no discretion or independent judgment. Demonstrates ability to learn and master new welding tasks. Approaches or meets quality and productivity standards.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Lift 1-10 lbs continuously, 11-20 lbs Frequently, 21-50 lbs Seldomly, 51-75lbs rarely , over 75lbs - never
