About Nicole
Nicole's Bio

I am a travel PTA turned recruiter for Pioneer Healthcare! I started my travel therapy career with Pioneer Healthcare and stayed with them until I joined the team as an Allied Recruiter. I decided to make the transition in May 2023 because I was feeling burnt out and looking for an opportunity with more opportunities for advancement while still helping people in the community. I have learned that there are not very many recruiters that have clinical experience or even exposure to the ins and outs of our lovely healthcare system! My biggest goal as a recruiter is to help to bridge that knowledge gap and serve as a Trusted resource for the travel community. I am very active on Instagram (@pta.pioneer.recruiter) and have been using that platform to share not only Jobs, but share some tips and tricks of traveling, and the occasional memes/ comedic relief on the struggles of working in rehab!

I am originally from Central Indiana. I have my bachelors in Exercise Science from Purdue University ('14), and my Associates in Physical Therapy Assisting from the University of Evansville ('18). Some of the places I have lived include Charleston, SC; Ketchikan, AK; NE Oregon; Sonoma, CA; San Francisco, CA; Sonora, CA; and now San Diego, CA. I worked in SNFs for 3 years and transitioned to Home Health for the last 2 years. I have now settled in San Diego with my boyfriend and our adorable pup, Diego.

If you have any questions at all about ANYTHING travel therapy related or otherwise, Please don't hesitate to reach out!!

Recruiting Since
2023

Why I love to recruit
I still get to work in the industry and help patients get the care they need, just from a different vantage point! Therapists are "my people" and I love interacting with y'all every day! :)

When I'm not working I like to
Train and play with my pup Diego, go on various adventures with my boyfriend, hang out at the beach, or sometimes stay at home and binge our favorite shows.

About Nicole Tombers:

Nicole took her time to get to know me, my needs, my strengths, and concerns before assisting me with my job search. She educated me with industry standards and had resources and tools available for my specific needs. She was professional yet treated me like "family". Cannot be happier with my recruiter choice.

About Nicole Tombers:

Nicole has been very consistent and helpful to me as a new grad with a lot of questions. She has always explained things in an easy to understand manner and been very responsive. Nicole has been very professional and efficient when I've asked her to submit to positions and presented options I had not considered. Nicole has been excellent to work with!
