IDR is seeking a Data Scientist to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Lehi, UT. This role involves designing and deploying predictive models to optimize home energy management systems, leveraging data and AI to enhance comfort and efficiency within connected homes. The company is a leader in home energy intelligence, focusing on innovative solutions in the energy and IoT sectors.
Position Overview for the Data Scientist:
- Develop and deploy advanced predictive models for occupancy, runtime, cost forecasting, anomaly detection, and preconditioning.
- Utilize data-driven insights to improve demand response, time-of-use shifting, and virtual power plant strategies.
- Collaborate with data engineering to improve data quality and scalability, transforming legacy data into reusable data products.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and analytics to integrate intelligence into systems.
- Communicate complex model outcomes effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements for the Data Scientist:
- Proven expertise in predictive modeling, forecasting, and applied machine learning (e.g., regression, gradient boosting, time-series, causal inference).
- Experience working with large-scale event and sensor data, preferably within energy, IoT, or device-driven ecosystems.
- Strong proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PySpark) and experience with distributed compute environments (Spark, Databricks, GCP).
- Ability to take models from concept to production in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Skilled in statistical analysis, feature engineering, and experimental design (e.g., A/B testing).
