Job Overview:
  • Position Title: Director of Construction Planning and Solution Services
  • Location: Carrollton Headquarters (remote flexibility with some travel to Carrollton required)
  • Salary: $185k - $190k
  • Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
  • Travel: Occasional travel to Carrollton; role is fully remote!
  • Start Date: Immediate – Urgency due to previous director's retirement in December
  • Experience Required:
  • 20+ years of electrical construction experience
  • Master’s in electrician work (if no degree, 20 years of experience required)
  • Business development experience strongly preferred
  • Key Focus: Strong emphasis on electrical contractor relations, business development, and overseeing a smaller team (BIM/VDC professionals) Screening Criteria:
    • No Degree? Requires 20 years of experience and mastery in electrical work
    • Degree? Highly Preferred but not mandatory
    • Sales Experience: Highly preferred, ideally with construction or electrical industry focus
    • Business Development Experience: Must be comfortable managing electrical contractors and engaging in sales efforts, will have to work & pitch projects to outside electrical contractors
    • Contractor Experience: Look for candidates who have managed contractors previoulsy
    • Previous Southwire Candidates: Do not submit candidates who have previously interviewed with Southwire for this role lets ask them if they have spoken with anyone before screening!
    Reporting:
    • Reports to Southwire's internal sales channels, including agents and distributors.
    • Manage a team of BIM/VDC professionals.
    Job Description & Responsibilities:

    Overview: The Director of Construction Planning and Solution Services will play a pivotal role in expanding Southwire’s electrical contractor construction offerings, addressing labor shortages, and incomplete project designs within the electrical industry. The position requires managing relationships with electrical contractors, developing solutions to optimize project costs and timelines, and leading a team of experts. The role also involves working closely with internal sales and external channels to promote Southwire’s products and services.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with electrical contractors to provide Southwire solutions and construction services.
    • Work closely with internal sales teams, external agent representatives, and electrical distributors.
    • Manage a team of BIM/VDC professionals to provide construction design and solutions.
    • Analyze construction projects, optimize solutions, and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements for electrical contractors.
    • Oversee the planning and prefabrication of advanced cable bundling solutions.
    • Understand contractor workflows, sequencing, and supply chain challenges, and find solutions to streamline processes.
    • Manage project-specific opportunities and challenges, ensuring alignment with business goals and outcomes.
    • Provide key preconstruction services for cable installations, including low and medium voltage systems.
    • Drive standardization and early-stage project design planning to achieve optimal outcomes.
