IDR is seeking a Principal Application Architect to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in the metro Atlanta area. This role involves providing technical leadership and strategic guidance for mission-critical applications.The position requires a hands-on approach to understanding complex legacy systems and advising on modernization strategies.

Position Overview for the Principal Application Architect:

• Lead technical assessment and ownership of a large, mission-critical application supporting core business functions.
• Independently analyze the environment through code, systems, and infrastructure to develop strategic options for application stability and modernization.
• Collaborate with leadership to evaluate and recommend the best path forward, balancing technical feasibility with operational needs.
• Support deployment, troubleshooting, and potentially modify code to ensure application stability and performance.
• Provide strategic insights on technology options, risks, and tradeoffs to executive leadership.

Requirements for the Principal Application Architect:

• Senior-level application architecture and technical leadership experience.
• Strong Java application development background.
• Experience assuming ownership of large, complex, poorly documented legacy applications.
• Ability to independently enter, understand, troubleshoot, and potentially modify an unfamiliar Java codebase.
• Experience supporting and modernizing mission-critical monolithic applications.
