IDR is seeking a VP of Cloud Engineering to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Brentwood, TN. This executive leadership role will drive strategy and hands-on execution across a modern Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 ecosystem, enabling secure, reliable, and scalable platforms for mission-critical operations. Position Overview for the VP of Cloud Engineering:
- Lead the strategy and execution for enterprise Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 platforms, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
- Build and guide Cloud Engineering, DevOps, and Platform teams to deliver an internal developer platform that improves developer velocity through paved paths and self-service capabilities.
- Own cloud architecture, networking, identity (Entra ID), automation, M365 administration, and operational excellence across all environments.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Security, Data, and Analytics teams to support high-throughput data pipelines, AI/ML workloads, and advanced analytics use cases.
- Champion modernization initiatives including cloud-native adoption, containerization (AKS), serverless approaches, and legacy platform refactoring aligned to business growth and compliance needs.
Requirements for the VP of Cloud Engineering:
- 10+ years in infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering, including 5+ years in leadership roles
- Advanced, hands-on experience designing and operating large-scale Microsoft Azure environments at enterprise scale
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including identity, security, compliance, and collaboration workloads
- Strong background in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD, GitOps, containers (AKS), and cloud-native architecture patterns
- Experience scaling platforms in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, or equivalent), with strong FinOps discipline and vendor management experience
