IDR is seeking a Health Information Specialist to join one of our top healthcare clients. If you are looking for an opportunity to join a large organization and work within an ever-growing team-oriented culture, please apply today!   Position Overview for the Health Information Specialist:  
  • Chart Completion: Manage high volumes of patient records by analyzing and ensuring completeness, merging duplicate records, and accurately filing patient charts and folders. Collect current and old records from nursing units and deliver charts to patient care areas.
  • Physician Collaboration: Notify physicians of incomplete records, retrieve and check incomplete records for completion, log physician visits, and maintain accurate suspension logs and lists.
  • Record Maintenance: Create and route chart folders for new patients, collect all current discharges, and retrieve old charts from various departments. Ensure accurate and timely filing and chart order of medical records.
  • Reception Duties: Perform reception tasks such as filing reports, retrieving charts, and assisting physicians or visitors as needed, while adhering to patient confidentiality standards and departmental policies.
Required Skills for the Health Information Specialist:  
  • Educational Background: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in verbal communication and telephone skills. Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of Electronic Health Records system applications.
  • Medical Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology, chart analysis, and medical record tracking. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and medical record documentation.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to handle detailed confidential information effectively and develop good working relationships with physicians, clinical ancillary departments, department coworkers, and other healthcare professionals.
