Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Senior Software Engineer – AWS & Java:
Analyze and improve Java-based backend systems powering financial and rebate workflows.
Perform code discovery and evaluation on an existing AWS-hosted application.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to assess platform viability and recommend enhancements or rebuilds.
Write clean, scalable code to address gaps in the existing platform or build new functionality as needed.
Contribute to solution design, documentation, and technical planning with an emphasis on Java development in AWS environments.
Troubleshoot and optimize application performance, ensuring high reliability and scalability in production.
Required Skills for Senior Software Engineer – AWS & Java:
10+ years of professional experience in Java software development (Spring Boot, etc.).
Strong recent experience working in AWS cloud-native environments (e.g., Lambda, Cognito, Aurora).
Experience with Aurora MySQL, backend data access patterns, and scalable architecture.
Hands-on work in finance, accounting, or rebate-related applications.
Ability to read legacy code, reverse engineer where needed, and clearly document your findings.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially with business stakeholders.
