IDR is seeking a Mainframe Developer to join one of our top clients for a remote opportunity. In this role, you’ll support a large-scale public sector project within a regulated enterprise environment, helping deliver reliable mainframe applications that impact critical services. This is a hands-on position that blends development and testing, working closely with a collaborative team to meet project deadlines.
Position Overview for the Mainframe Developer:
- Design, develop, test, and implement IMS/COBOL programs for both online transactions and batch processing.
- Support and enhance mainframe applications running on IBM z/OS for a high-visibility enterprise project.
- Perform hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure stable, high-quality releases.
- Create and maintain technical design documentation and testing artifacts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to deliver work on schedule and communicate status effectively.
Requirements for the Mainframe Developer:
- Strong hands-on experience with IMS DB/DC in a mainframe environment.
- Proven development experience using COBOL on IBM Mainframe (z/OS).
- Experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing IMS/COBOL solutions for online and batch programs.
- Working knowledge of JCL, ISPF/PDF, and Telon.
- Strong troubleshooting/debugging skills, communication skills, and ability to produce technical documentation.
