IDR is seeking a talented AI/ML Engineer to join a remote team working on cutting-edge healthcare AI systems. This contract role offers the opportunity to design and develop innovative AI solutions that improve patient outcomes and healthcare workflows.
Position Overview for the AI/ML ENGINEER:
- Develop and implement advanced AI and machine learning models tailored for healthcare applications.
- Design agent architectures, including large language model (LLM) integrations and prompt engineering.
- Build and maintain scalable Python services, automation workflows, and data pipelines.
- Deploy AI systems in cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, ensuring reliable and secure operation.
- Collaborate on evaluating AI models, establishing guardrails, and ensuring compliance with healthcare data standards.
- Contribute to the development of AI agent frameworks and communication protocols.
- Support rapid experimentation and continuous improvement of AI capabilities in a regulated environment.
Requirements for the AI/ML ENGINEER:
- A master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, health science, or a related field, with at least one year of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree with three years of experience, or a high school diploma with seven years of experience.
- Over seven years of hands-on experience in software and machine learning engineering, with recent work involving AI or large language models.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, including experience with APIs, asynchronous programming, and testing in production environments.
- Practical experience designing and deploying autonomous or semi-autonomous AI agents, especially with frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndex.
- Knowledge of agent communication protocols and coordination architectures such as MCP.
- Experience with AI evaluation techniques, guardrails, and handling sensitive healthcare data in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Familiarity with ML lifecycle management, including deployment, monitoring, and evaluation of models, as well as working with embedding models and vector databases.
- Hands-on cloud experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP, including cloud-native deployment patterns and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of healthcare data management, including data modeling, pipelines, and governance.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Experience with Google ADK, Copilot Studio, or similar AI/LLM agent tooling.
- Cloud experience with Google Cloud or Azure platforms.
- Knowledge of databases such as BigQuery, Firestore, or Cloud SQL.
- Familiarity with data pipeline tools like Dataflow.
- Automation tooling experience with UiPath or Power Automate.
- CI/CD pipeline management using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience with Terraform.

Compensation Range: $85-88/hr
