Job Title: Water Jet Operator / Programmer Location: Huntington Beach, CA area Pay: $28.00/hr - $35.00/hr, Depending on Experience Job Type: Full-time, 1st Shift Schedule: 6:00 am - 2:30pm Helpmates is hiring a skilled operator-programmer of high-pressure water jet machines. The ideal candidate will program, operate, and maintain the water jet machinery (e.g., FLOW water jet systems) in a fast-paced CNC/CMM shop environment.  Job Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret work orders, production schedules, blueprints and drawings; understand material specs, thicknesses, tolerances, and machining requirements. 
  • Program water jet cutting machines: set up cutting paths using CAD/CAM or machine software, determine offsets and machine parameters based on material, tooling and job requirements. 
  • Operate the water jet machine: load/unload material, affix fixtures/stops, monitor machine operations, set offsets, adjust controls as needed, deburr parts. 
  • Perform in-process and final inspection of parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges etc) to confirm conformance to tolerance and print specification.
  • Conduct basic preventive maintenance on equipment: cleaning, lubrication, checking for malfunctions, alerting management for repairs, ensuring work area is clean, safe and efficient. 
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and programming staff to identify and resolve machining or quality issues; suggest process improvements and continuous-improvement ideas. 
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3–8 years of experience programming and operating water jet machines.
  • Relevant experience required 
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment is required.
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry/algebra) to calculate material usage, offsets, tolerances. 
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc).
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity (corrected) sufficient to operate machines and inspect parts.
  • Physical ability to stand for the shift, frequent stooping, bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs frequently. (Shop environment)
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance, troubleshoot machine issues and respond to shop floor needs.
  • Good attendance, strong work ethic, detail-oriented, quality-focused, self-motivated and a team player.
  • Forklift experience and general fabrication/mechanical skills are a plus.
