Job Title: Safety Coordinator
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Hours: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

As a Safety Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in enhancing workplace safety and compliance, ensuring a secure environment for all employees. You’ll work closely with management and the safety committee to deliver results that foster a culture of safety within the organization.
What You’ll Do:
As a Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the safety committee and coordinating all related activities, including monthly and quarterly meetings.
- Monitoring workplace safety conditions, identifying issues, recommending improvements, and ensuring necessary changes are implemented.
- Keeping detailed records for safety programs such as training logs, inspection reports, and audits.
- Investigating near-misses, accidents, and injuries to determine root causes and prevent recurrences.
- Providing annual safety and environmental training as required by law.
- Creating and updating safety programs and policies (e.g., IIPP, hazard communication, PPE, chemical safety, emergency plans, etc.).
- Assisting management with the implementation of safety plans and responding to emergencies, accidents, and alarms as needed.
- Following and enforcing Maintenance Safety Protocols (like Lockout/Tagout) and managing the inventory of safety supplies.
- Completing and managing all required Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) reports for federal, state, and city agencies.
- Overseeing wastewater and air emissions compliance and conducting safety audits.
- Inspecting hazardous waste storage areas to ensure proper disposal and maintaining EHS documentation and recordkeeping.
- Tracking and organizing maintenance work requests, recommending solutions to prevent recurring equipment issues.
- Reporting maintenance performance (KPIs) to upper management.
What You’ll Bring:
The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field preferred; relevant work experience may be accepted.

Personal Characteristics: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work under deadlines.

Experience: 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment; mechanical maintenance experience (2+ years) is a plus.

Certifications/Licenses: Preferred certifications include OSHA Certification, HAZWOPER, Incident Commander, Train-the-Trainer, Forklift Certification, and CPR Certification.

Physical Abilities: Ability to safely use power and hand tools and familiarity with safety procedures such as LOTO, welding safety, and PPE use.

Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with maintenance databases is a plus.
