Job Title: CNC Machinist – Lathe Operator Department: Manufacturing Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA - Must be able to reliably commute Payroll Range: $23 - $26 Depending on experience & knowledge Schedule: Full-time, First & Second shift opportunity 

 

Job Summary: Seeking a skilled CNC Machinist specializing in lathe operations to join our manufacturing team with setup experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating CNC lathes, producing complex aerospace components with precision and efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of CNC machinery, the ability to perform intricate setups, and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Machine Operation:

  • Operate CNC lathes to manufacture parts per engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Perform pre-operational inspections to ensure machinery is in optimal working condition.
  • Execute complex setups independently, including selecting and installing appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials.
  • Conduct trial runs to verify machine settings and make necessary adjustments.
  • Quality Assurance:

  • Interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical documents to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Monitor machining processes to detect malfunctions or deviations and adjust controls as required.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.
  • Maintenance and Safety:

  • Perform routine maintenance on machines, including checking fluid levels and cleaning.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Collaboration:

  • Work closely with engineers, programmers, and production personnel to resolve machining challenges.
  • Assist in training new or existing staff, sharing expertise to promote team development.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience:

    • Must Have Set Up Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of CNC lathe operation experience, with at least 3 years in a conventional machining environment.
    • Proven ability to set up and operate various CNC and manual machines.
  • Education:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Completion of a trade school program in machining/CNC or equivalent work experience.
  • Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with CNC programming codes.
  • Solid mathematical skills pertinent to machining tasks.

     

    Certifications/Licenses:

    • Forklift or Crane Operator certification is a plus but not mandatory.
    • Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 (GD&T) is preferred but not required.
