Job Title: Accountant – General Ledger and Reporting
Job Summary:
The Accountant is responsible for managing general ledger activities and reporting for assigned units. This role will serve as the primary liaison between field units and the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of daily transactions and resolving finance-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly journal entries for assigned funds and intercompany general journals.
Review incoming cash receipts and accounts payable batches, ensuring proper general ledger coding, accurate and timely payments, and adherence to company policies.
Manage timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings, including generating and distributing financial statements by applicable deadlines.
Coordinate monthly grant revenue recognition with field personnel for accurate accruals, billing, and reporting.
Review and publish monthly financial statements, provide financial analysis, and address budget variances with assigned units.
Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
Act as a liaison between Finance and field units regarding accounts payable, cash receipts, and financial reporting, addressing any pending issues.
Review and track capital and deferred maintenance projects.
Provide training on TSA policies and procedures to field personnel, ensuring compliance with accounting and bookkeeping standards.
Oversee maintenance of Custodian accounts.
Assist in the preparation of internal and external audit schedules.
Coordinate and assist with budget preparation for assigned units.
Perform projects and research related to assigned units.
Provide backup support for other accountants as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, with a minimum of 18 semester (or 24 quarter) units in accounting.
