Job Title: Automated Optical Inspection Operator

Pay: $18-$20 (depending on experience)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 am-3:00 pm, or 7:30 am-4:00 pm

Start Date: Immediate openings!

 

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Automated Optical Inspection Operator in Portland, ME. In this role, you’ll be responsible for operating AOI systems to inspect printed circuit boards (PCBs), identifying defects early in the production process to reduce rework and ensure high-quality standards. Your attention to detail will directly impact the reliability of our final products.

What You'll Do:
  • Set up and operate AOI equipment to inspect surface mount and through-hole components
  • Use magnification tools to validate machine-flagged defects
  • Accurately distinguish between false calls and true defects
  • Record and report inspection results and work closely with production teams to resolve issues
  • Ensure AOI machines are properly calibrated and maintained
  • Follow IPC-A-610 and ESD standards, as well as internal quality procedures
  • Contribute to ongoing quality improvements across the production process
Must-Haves:
  • Strong attention to detail and visual inspection skills
  • Quality-focused mindset with good organizational habits
  • Reliable eyesight (visual inspections are a key part of the job)
  • Willingness to assist other departments and learn new tasks (cross-training encouraged)
  • Strong quality control awareness  
Nice-to-Haves:
  • Experience with PCB manufacturing or electronic assembly
  • Familiarity with inspection tools or standards
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Ability to interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and BOMs
  • Experience with inspection tools like calipers, rulers, and microscopes
  • Knowledge of IPC standards (610, 770, 700, 7711, 7721) is a plus
  • Familiarity with first-piece, in-process, audit, and final inspection procedures a plus
