The Machinist will be responsible for servicing all machining requirements, including but not limited to Carbon products, test specimens, materials, manufacturing tooling, and equipment components. The Machinist will work at our client’s smaller facility with a production team of 4 other people. Success in this position involves high attention to detail, zero margin for error, and strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This is a Quick Hire position located in Biddeford, ME. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for:Assembling, repairing, and fabricating metal parts by operating mechanical equipment.
Assembling parts into sub-units or complete units.
Using blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.
Taking measurements of material and selecting the appropriate machine for the process.
Setting up and operating vertical mills, horizontal lathes, surface grinders (manual and automatic), manual and tracking band saws.
Reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings and work orders.
Determining tooling requirements and machining processes to be applied.
Inspecting in-process and completed work product to technical requirements.
Maintaining tooling and machine tool equipment in clean operating condition.
Producing consistent machining of carbon/carbon products.
Aligning and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
Selecting the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
Monitoring the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.

2+ years of related experience.
CNC operating experience required.

Strong understanding of ASME Y 14.5.
Ability to read and interpret drawings using geometric dimensioning and tolerances, perform geometric and mathematical calculations in support of machining and inspection requirements, and use basic hand-held measuring tools.
Experience with manually operated equipment.
Ability to work with a team and independently when required.
Manual Machining experience preferred.
Lean / Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement experience preferred.

Strong leadership and communication skills, hands-on experience with machining operations, and the ability to mentor and train team members.
