Job Title: Scale Operator

As a Scale Operator, you’ll support daily yard and customer operations by accurately processing transactions, coordinating with multiple teams, and delivering strong customer service. This role is ideal for candidates with transferable experience in logistics, dispatch, customer service, data entry, operations, or industrial environments.

As a Scale Operator, you will be responsible for:

• Operating inbound and outbound truck scales to record accurate weights and transactions.

• Identifying and grading incoming materials according to established standards and procedures.

• Directing customers to appropriate unloading areas and explaining yard processes clearly.

• Processing tickets, assigning material codes, and calculating totals for payment.

• Communicating pricing, quality standards, and acceptance guidelines to customers and internal teams.

• Coordinating with office staff to ensure accurate documentation and timely recordkeeping.

• Assisting customers with questions related to materials, pricing, and procedures.

• Completing required vehicle and transaction documentation within established timeframes.

• Monitoring scale accuracy and reporting equipment issues as needed.

• Following all safety, environmental, and operational policies while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• A high school diploma or GED.

• Experience in customer service, logistics, warehouse operations, dispatch, manufacturing, or industrial environments.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with customers and teams.

• Comfort working with numbers, basic data entry, and transactional accuracy.

• A detail-oriented mindset and the ability to make independent decisions.

• The physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, stand or sit for extended periods, and walk on uneven surfaces.

• The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while wearing required PPE.

This position is on-site in Portland and offers Monday–Friday hours from 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM. Occasional overtime, evenings, weekends, or holidays may be required based on operational needs.
