We are seeking a CNC Machinist / Manual & Large Lathe Operator for a direct-hire position for our client, a leading manufacturer located in Gorham, ME. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for precision machining operations to produce high-quality parts. The CNC Machinist will succeed in this role by demonstrating strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on complex projects. This is a hands-on machining role located in Gorham, ME.
As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for:
- Setting up machining operations by studying blueprints, work orders, and engineering plans.
- Programming and operating CNC mills and lathes, ensuring proper setup and execution.
- Inspecting finished parts using measuring tools to verify they meet blueprint specifications.
- Troubleshooting malfunctions and making necessary mechanical adjustments or repairs.
- Performing preventive maintenance and maintaining detailed equipment records.
- Documenting work and effectively communicating with team members.
- Following all safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- High school diploma or equivalent (2-year technical degree preferred).
- At least 5 years of machining experience in a machine tool trade.
- Experience working with horizontal milling machines.
- Proficiency in using measuring tools, gauges, and cutting tools.
- Strong understanding of blueprints and routers.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently on complex projects.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for 8-10 hour shifts.
