AI and Data Strategy Consultant - Hybrid - NYC - Contract

To work with our direct client in midtown Manhattan, we seek an experienced AI consultant to help define strategy, clean up data foundations, and deliver early wins.  This is anticipated to be an initial 3-month engagement, with potential extension beyond.  The company,  specializing in real estate-related investments is looking to move from AI experimentation to practical, value-driven execution. They have enterprise access to ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot but need an experienced consultant to evaluate current data, help define some early wins, and execute the initial agreed-upon projects.  

Responsibilities:

• Assess current data and AI maturity across investment, asset management, reporting, and compliance teams

• Develop a pragmatic AI & data strategy focused on low-risk, high-impact use cases

• Lead or advise on foundational data cleanup and standardization (currently primarily Excel-based)

• Design and deliver pilot automations (e.g., investor deck updates, portfolio change analysis)

• Partner with senior stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable technical solutions

Skills and Experience Desired:

• Prior experience in financial services, ideally credit hedge funds or real estate private equity

• Strong background in data management, analytics, and automation

• Hands-on experience with Python, Excel automation, and modern AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, APIs)

• Ability to operate as a trusted advisor—practical, business-oriented, and cost-conscious

• Comfortable working in environments with imperfect data and evolving processes
