Astute's Strategic Division are currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support all project phases with a particular focus in detailed engineering across multiple sub-stations in Mendota Heights.
The Senior Electrical Engineer position come with a salary from $130,000 to $150,000 plus benefits.
Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
- Act as the Lead Electrical Engineer across projects, supporting all project phases with a particular focus on detailed engineering and project execution.
- Develop electrical power system engineering deliverables, including single-line, three-line, schematic and connection drawings, cabling systems, grounding systems and associated documentation.
- Carry out the sizing, selection and specification of electrical equipment, producing technical specifications and equipment data sheets.
- Design electrical systems covering lighting, lightning protection, grounding and cable tray systems, including conduit, cable, wire and motor sizing.
- Specify major electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs) and power-conditioning equipment.
- Perform and review power system studies, including short-circuit, load-flow, protective coordination and arc-flash studies using SKM, ETAP, EasyPower or equivalent software.
- Review electrical shop drawings, vendor documentation and technical data, ensuring designs meet project and engineering requirements.
- Coordinate closely with suppliers, clients, designers and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project delivery.
- Prepare complete construction drawing and specification packages for project execution.
- Conduct and review hazardous-area classification assessments, ensuring designs comply with applicable API, NFPA and other relevant standards.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with relevant NFPA, NEMA, IEEE and IEC codes and standards.
- Lead the quality management of electrical engineering work processes, calculations, designs and deliverables.
- Provide technical leadership, resolve engineering issues and ensure effective communication between electrical and other engineering disciplines.
- Work directly with clients from proposal development and front-end planning through detailed engineering and project execution.
- Bring a minimum of 10 years’ electrical engineering experience within petrochemical, oil & gas, power generation and/or metallurgical/mineral processing environments.
- Hold a Professional Engineer (PE) licence, with the ability to register through NCEES and obtain registration in additional US states as required.
- Previous engineering consultancy experience is strongly preferred, with TWIC eligibility/current TWIC considered advantageous.
