EC&I - Discipline Manager

Discipline Manager – EC&I        Stockton-on-Tees Competitive salary + Benefits Introduction, Astute are looking for a Discipline Manager – EC&I, who will report into the Head of Engineering, to  manage delivery of defined engineering tasks for different projects to the highest standards complying with legal obligations and client statement of requirements. Roles & Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, as the Discipline Manager, you will be responsible for:  
  •  Set, implement and maintain effective electrical, control & instrumentation engineering systems, strategies, projects and processes ensuring required performance and compliance are delivered and maintained.
  • Provide appropriate guidance and hands on support to personnel and customers on electrical, control & instrumentation engineering matters including shutdowns, unplanned/planned events, incidents, projects, mods, and improvement activities.
  • Ensure technical documentation (procedures, drawings, instructions, guidance, systems,) are accurately and consistently sourced, stored, updated, and communicated.
  • Assist in providing functional design specifications on agreed existing and new assets.
  • Complete assigned audits communicating outcomes and driving actions.
  • Deliver projects (capital, revenue, improvement & change management,) consistent with project management procedures, ensuring changes are raised and approved via the ‘Management of Change’ process.
  • Be active in safety schemes providing support, reporting and implementing actions including reporting, investigations, audits, housekeeping and supervision to safe working systems standards and the support of technical safety reviews e.g. HAZOP, LOPA, RBI, functional Safety compliance etc.
  • Provide support to others including central contact and information point on designated matters, delivering technical training, and coaching to support competence.
  • Represent electrical, control & instrumentation interests at cross site functional group meetings and support improvement processes in line with competence and business need.
  • Contract owner for assigned contracts delivering efficiency and performance through performance and quality audit and appropriate KPIs
  • Budget owner for assigned budgets.
  • Research upgrades / new equipment / new techniques / new procedures and contribute ideas and complete actions improving control of work, planning & maintenance systems, process, and actions.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required, Instrument or Control engineering preferred.
  • TUV Rheinland approved Functional Safety Engineer BOSIET & MIST certificates – Desirable
  • Full-range instrument engineering experience in a process, petrochemical plant, or power generation environment.
  • Working knowledge and experience in all functional safety activities.
  • Experience in specification, design, purchase, and installation and commissioning of instrument and electrical systems.
  • Experience of reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, design standards, operating and maintenance manuals and procedure manuals.
