Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting for a Construction Manager to join the end client on the delivery of on a Heat offtake project for the installation of new heat offtake connections to the existing steam turbine, new heat recovery equipment, and a new heat pipe to an existing interface point already connected to an established heat network. The role is a contract position outside of IR35 for 8 months. 

The  Construction Manager position comes with a day rate from £500.00 to £550.00 per day outside of IR35. The project in based in South London. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:  
  • Lead and manage all on-site construction activities for the Heat Offtake project, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.
  • Drive a strong health, safety, and environmental culture in line with company standards and UK regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors to ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, RAMS, permits, and programme milestones.
  • Manage complex site interfaces, including integration with live Energy Recovery Facility operations and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee site logistics, lifting operations, and temporary works to ensure safe and efficient sequencing of activities.
  • Implement robust quality control processes, ensuring all works meet required specifications and non-conformances are promptly addressed.
  • Support testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities to ensure successful system integration and handover.
  • Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015 requirements, maintaining accurate site documentation, permits, and audit-ready records.
  • Provide clear site leadership, fostering effective communication and collaboration across contractors, operations, and project teams.

Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting for a Site Manager (Solar) to join the Principal Contract on the delivery of on a new build 20MW Solar farm based in Caerphilly, Wales. The Site Manager (Solar) position comes with a day rate from £500.00 to £550.00 per day outside of IR35. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
  • Coordinate logistics with Project Manager and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
  • Conduct pre-construction site assessments and manage site setup, including temporary facilities, temporary access roads, and laydown areas.
  • Lead and manage on-site subcontractor teams ensuring efficient workflows for timely completion.
  • Supervise all construction activities, including but not limited to: delivery logistics and materials distribution, groundworks, civil works, structure installation, module mounting, electrical and earthing works, commissioning, site reinstatement
  • Collaborate with Principal Designer during the development of the Risk Register during pre-construction, and ensure a smooth handover when construction starts.
  • Act as Principal Contractor and ensure all construction activities comply with UK health, safety, and environmental regulations, including CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS).
  • Promote a culture of safety and conduct regular toolbox talks focused on daily planned activities and associated risks, site inspections, and incident reporting.
  • Ensure that all work is executed to high standards and in line with Employer Requirements and industry best practices.
  • Provide regular updates to the project manager, including progress reports, cost tracking, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor project progress, identify and address potential time and cost overruns.
  • Optimise resource allocation, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to maximise efficiency.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale solar farm projects, ideally 20MW+.
  • Experienced in UK construction practices, regulations, and standards, including CDM compliance.
  • Desired but not compulsory: 
    • Relevant certifications in construction management, (e.g. Black Manager’s CSCS Card, Gold Supervisor’s CSCS Card)
  • Relevant certifications in health and safety (e.g., SMSTS, NEBOSH, IOSH)

The Role We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join the end Client on the new build Waste to Energy facility based on the Isle of Wight. Our Client is a leading engineering and operations specialist in the renewable energy field, who are constantly growing in the UK market as a leading Client.

As Mechanical Commissioning Engineer, you will bring demonstrable commissioning experience and practical skills to the commissioning team. Working closely with the Commissioning Manager, you will be responsible for planning, executing and documenting of commissioning and handover activities on the project and programme of works in a safe manner, fully in accordance with company processes, systems, procedures and specifications. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Working in collaboration with the construction team, ensuring that mechanical commissioning activities are planned safely and to required quality standards and specifications
  • Providing appropriate support throughout the commissioning phase of the project
  • Updating of commissioning documentation including site reports and assisting with O&M manuals
  • Carrying out and recording of all commissioning tests
  • Liaising with onsite subcontractors where necessary
  • Reporting to the Commissioning Manager and updating relevant personnel on site progress 
  • Adhered to health and safety regulations and reporting any incidents appropriately.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Commissioning experience gained within Energy from Waste, Biomass, and Gasification projects. 
  • Proven track record in a similar role and ability to communicate well at all levels
  • Ability to work well independently and as well as part of a team

Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting for a Technical Asset/Product Manager to join a leading Operator within the UK's Renewable Industry on a 6 months contract basis. The role is a hybrid position, with the site office being based in Edinburgh.

The Technical Asset/Product Manager position comes with a day rate from £600.00 to £700.00 Outside IR35. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
  • Lead the definition and delivery of an off-the-shelf asset management platform for renewable energy assets (BESS, solar, wind)
  • Conduct a full review of existing systems, data flows, and asset-level digital capabilities to identify gaps and opportunities
  • Gather and translate business and technical requirements from internal stakeholders into a clear, structured specification
  • Produce a detailed technical specification (RFP/tender pack) to support vendor selection
  • Evaluate and compare platform providers, supporting technical due diligence and solution design discussions

Astute's Power team are currently recruiting for a Cost Controller to join the EPC Contractor to oversee and manage the costs across 2 power plants in construction in Eye & Bedfordshire. The role is a fixed term contract for 12 months.

The Cost Controller position comes with a salary from £45,000 to £50,000. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:  
  • Manage and monitor project costs, budgets, and forecasts across two live EPC projects during the final construction and commissioning phases.

  • Maintain accurate cost reporting, including weekly and monthly cost reports for senior project and commercial management.

  • Track actual spend vs budget, identifying cost variances and providing recommendations to maintain financial control.

  • Work closely with project managers, commercial teams, and site teams to ensure cost data reflects real-time project activity.

  • Support forecasting and cash flow management, updating financial projections as projects move toward completion.

  • Review and validate contractor and supplier invoices, ensuring costs align with agreed contracts and project budgets.
